Let's Design Together
Still hard at work on the office. I hope you have been following along. Please share your ideas below! If you are new to this project, here is where we left off.
This is what it looked like when you read last. The next items we added was a light fixture from Vintage Now. Here is the light that was there when we moved in and the one that is there now.
It looks so amazing. I have always liked the bamboo chandeliers (it's metal, not actual bamboo). Vintage now has a few more available, you may have noticed in the shots I took when I visited. While mine is in my office I love the idea of one of these in a bathroom or a nursery. It adds a little bit of charm to the room. This one got a fresh coat of paint for it's arrival to the office. Plus, Kerri helped me choose one that was truly "me"- thanks for that K.
Current office items for those decorating along with us : rugs, screen, console, desk, chair, lighting.
I would follow this formula for other rooms you are decorating with us if you are adding one piece at a time.

Decoration Inspiration
When decorating a space, I love to get inspired by other rooms. I saw this one on Will's pinterest. What great colors.
If you like the color palette too, here are some simple and inexpensive
ways to add those colors to any space. (and that table is from ikea?!)
- you can get frames anywhere Here is a set of 5 to get you started.
I would use these west elm frames as inspiration,
I would use these west elm frames as inspiration,
and display them however you'd like.
-the table is from ikea. I love the shape. And the price.
- I love this shape for glassware. I suggest michael's for a nice selection too.
- A simple white pillar candle is nice inside of the large glass holder,
but I like this one above from Pottery barn b/c of it's subtle texture.
I always give plain white candles as hostess gifts b/c no
one can have enough and this one would be special.

This summer, I saw a photo of a model wearing a cream cable knit sweater with pink denim. Immediately after I saw the photo, I bought one for myself and I'm pretty happy about it now that these are in stores everywhere. It's one of the more practical purchases I have made this year.
Here are some fun ways to wear yours that Liana found this week:
Wear yours with a print.
Go classic and over a button-up .
With a long pleated skirt (which is how I'll wear mine this week).
Buy your oversized for a comfy look.

Giveaway- from jewelmint and Dallas Shaw
Kate Bosworth. You know I have always been a fan of her very effortless style.
So when I got an email a few weeks ago introducing me to a site called jewelmint, I visited immediately. The pieces at this site are designed by Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter. I own the two pieces in the post above (Kate's a better model than I am), and I adore them. They fit my style just perfectly.
If these aren't your style you don't have to worry- you'll find pieces that fit your taste after creating a style profile on the site (so fun).
The team at jewelmint would like to give my clients and blog readers a chance to choose a piece of your own. Simply visit Jewelmint here, and after you join just comment below on what piece you'd choose! Good Luck- I am thrilled with the quality of these pieces and know you'll love being a part of this site.
As always, for an extra entry tweet something about this blog. I love your support.

Alison Conklin
Luckily b/c of my job I know a lot of photographers, but there are only a few that I love. Last week, we had the pleasure of spending the morning with Alison Conklin- who has been a favorite of mine since
I met her at this shoot (yes, that was me).
I am pretty private about sharing personal photos of us, but I love these so much
I thought I'd share some of the others with you (posted on Alison's blog today).
I think you'll love them and the rest of her stunning work. Hope you all get the chance to meet Alison and work with her sometime soon. She has an eye for capturing the simple moments like no one else.

Giveaway- from Sheyna Jewelry and Dallas Shaw
I am a designer of all sorts. One of the things I have never had the chance to is design jewelry. A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to work with the friendly team at Sheyna and I got to design a few pieces for myself. The process was so much fun. I ended up with a pair of large sparkly drop earrings and also a very tiny initial necklace.
I know many of the people who read this blog are creative and stylish as well, so I thought you'd love to try this too! This week, we are giving away a $40 credit to Sheyna so that you can design your own piece! (don't worry, if you're not creative you can always buy one of their designs)
Simply visit the Sheyna website here and leave a comment below! Also, the team has offered all of our readers a special discount code this week. Enter Dallas20 to receive 20% off of your purchase (one month to use this code)
Congrats to the winner of the Gorjana bracelet, Jen.

Nina Ricci Spring/Summer 2012
I've been looking back over the Spring collections and cannot stop thinking about Nina Ricci. It's all so beautiful, but that floral printed dress with matching pointed toe pumps? perfection. gimme.
Let's Design Together
Today I'd like to show you the next round of items that arrived for the office. (Here was the progress we made last week in case you are following along.)
I loved your notes on this project last week- hope you enjoy what I have added!

The next few items I brought into my office space include this vintage Louis chair (above) that I picked up at an antique shop in Chadds Ford, PA. It was set outside of the shop, calling me in as I passed by. I had it refinished to a high gloss white but kept the taupe fabric. I had to beg the women to refinish it b/c they didn't want it too be white. I won the battle.
I LOVE the marco console that the blog readers chose from bungalow 5.
It's small in a good way, and the nail heads make such a statement.
I put it in the empty space under the mirrors, and yes you can see the vent,
but we'll cover that eventually.
I grabbed this desk from good old ikea. I really like a glass top desk.
The working space is coming along! I hope you enjoy seeing all of the items together finally.

p.s.) Thank you SO much for the sweet notes and comments on the new Ralph Lauren project. I was equally thrilled to be asked to be a part of this one- have been a fan of the brand for years.

I was introduced to Gorjana last year when I came across some wrap bracelets of theirs. I checked back this year and found even more bracelets that ended up on my wish list.

Let's Design Together: Layla Grace
For new readers, a few months ago we began a project to design my own little office, one piece at a time. The rugs got held up and were back ordered for a few month (I am blaming this on your fabulous taste). They are here now and we are ready to share step by step photo of decorating the office!!
For those of you decorating a space at home- please feel free to follow along and share your opinions and experiences as well. I would love to know if you are following along or taking inspiration from our project.
Here we go! It all began with an empty room and a screen.
Layla Grace was the first company to suggest an item.
They suggested a few screens- and you voted on this gold one. Meg then suggested we find a few gold gilded mirrors to fill the space next to the screen...
The following week, I let all of the readers vote on rugs. We ended up with these two
First of all thank you for choosing this unique jute with chevron details. You know how I adore chevron. This one came from here.
A metallic cowhide is layered on top to keep the same neutral tone, but add a mix of texture.
Feel free to follow along and decorate with us! Hope you like the space so far!
