area home

If you ever come to my apt as a guest, no need to bring a bottle of wine. Just bring me a cool matchbook and I'm happy as a clam! That's true too. My husband and I have a big glass bowl of cool matchbooks from places we've been ..and haven't. Around holiday time I posted that you should stick a pack of vintage matches in a cool guys stocking- and I was serious.
You can find these vintage ones on ebay

While I was surfing around on areo home this week I hit the match jackpot. Check out there pretty selection here!
Get ready for huge news monday... have a lovely weekend.

what a fun thing to collect! i love the idea. my husband likes to collect the paper/cardboard coasters you get when ordering drinks at bars or pubs...sometimes i feel funny stuffing coasters in my purse, but he calims to have an interesting art project to use them for! we'll see :)

I have a matchbook collection too! My favorites are from old diners in the 40's and 50's with menus printed in tiny letters on the insides. Coffee was a nickle! Spaghetti, 29 cents!

Collecting matchbooks -- what a fun idea!! I might have to steal that on from you. They would be super portable and interesting travel mementos.

As a kid, my parents did that same thing...we still rifle through their collection and reminisce. I really should start one of my own!

So funny...I saw this post the other day and thought to myself, "Huh, I wonder how hard it is to find cool old matchbooks?" Then I was at an antique mall on Saturday, and they were all over the place! It's strange how once something is brought to your attention, you suddenly notice it all over like that, ha.
