woven things


I love everything woven this week. I want to grab some woven colorful baskets for the house- maybe as a laundry basket, or even to keep magazines in? What are your thoughts?

    Love the textural quality to these and think using one large one as a laundry basket is a brilliant idea!

    I just came back from a trip to Peru, and am absolutely in love with woven goodies, especially since I had the privilege of watching Andean women create some of the most beautiful blankets, scarves and rugs while I was there. There's just so much love and thoughtfulness that goes behind these handwoven crafts, and each one is unique from the other.

    These photos remind me of visiting a family in AZ who collect authentic Native American pieces. There was a long shelf lined with hand-woven Native American baskets. The hard work and history literally woven into every object heightened their beauty.

    My aunt used to make these fabulous braided rugs out of fabric remnants. We had one in every room when I was growing up.They were huge. (5 or 6 ft across). Those things were amazing. I love the woven look.

    Love the newspaper/magazine baskets shown here! They would make a great accent piece!
