Vintage wedding options

Taking a quick break from holiday pics to bring you some advice from Dear Golden's Lauren. I have a wedding in Two weeks and an flirting with the idea of wearing vintage. Here are some of my favs from her shop and what Lauren has to say:

1) what would you wear to a wedding in a chilly month? (many options since they are indoors!) it's hard to choose what to wear! since i might not wear black to a summer wedding i might wear the black dress with the fur collar, understatedand elegant! or velvet, i love velvet and wish it was more "in style", i think it comes and goes, but there are some amazing vintage velvet dresses and those are perfect for a late autumn/winter wedding.
2) why do you love the idea of vintage to a wedding? well, i love the idea of vintage to anything, anywhere anytime - but vintage to a wedding is particularly befitting. a wedding is an exercise in tradition and it's despite the fashions of the day, it's a timeless day. wearing a garment that honors the past is a great way to celebrate someones future!

3) Tell us about dress size in vintage and what we might need to know?vintage sizing is much different than modern sizing. for instance a modern size 4 is a vintage size 10. the very best and only way to get the best fit from a vintage garment is to know your measurements -bust, waist and hips primarily. i always give those measurements for dresses, so no matter what size the tags says, you know the garments fits by the measurements. ladies, measure yourself!

Thanks Lauren!

vaute paintings

Before I being sharing my holiday picks I wanted to share two very simple paintings I did for vaute couture. They are for sale in a sweet animal friendly boutique Leanne is working on. It will open shortly so if you'd like one of these for your shelves before they are gone, just send her an email her (leanne@vautecouturecom)

They come framed and matted and are originals. Enjoy!
